A day without sunshine,
Is like, you know,

Steve Martin

December 3rd, 2013

I continue to look out Jess’s window for the better part of the night.

The sun is starting to beam its magnificent brightness over the trees on the eastern horizon.

If I were not in this room, I would never have seen this spectacular event.

A daily event that gets so taken for granted.

An event that usually gets noticed by people only in extreme emotions – either in love or in worry.

There is a sunrise and a sunset every day.

The sad part is that I can only remember seeing a few in my lifetime.

How sad, to miss all of that beauty, there for us every day.

It is so easy to see past or see through the greatness that surrounds us.

Every day one should either see the sun rise or the sun set.

If you miss both for more than a few days, you need to readjust yourself.

Life’s beauty is just too amazing to miss.

So don’t.

The trick is to go to bed with a dream and to wake up with a purpose, and when you do, life’s beauty will be shining in your eyes.

A dear friend of mine recently asked me, “How did you find happiness with all you have been through?”

After thinking about it for a while, I realized that I didn’t find happiness; it was always there it was not hidden.

Happiness is a decision.

It is not something that is lost or to be found.

You just have to recognize all there is to be happy about, and just decide to be happy.

It is that simple.

In Paradise Lost, John Milton writes:

“The mind is its own place,

And in itself can make a heaven of hell,

And a hell of heaven.”

I have decided that I would rather live in heaven.

Albert Einstein once said:

“There are two ways to live your life.

One is as though nothing is a miracle.

The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

I prefer to live as though everything in life is a miracle.

Happiness, like the sun, is always there.

Sometimes we just need to be still to feel it.
