I’ll Have an Order of Happiness To Go

Again – Chapter 22 – JohnA Passaro

Who could count all of the apples
That come from one seed?

People do weird things when they are under extreme stress.

While waiting to see if Jess would survive her brain surgery, I went to a local bagel place and ate an egg sandwich.

While I was there, I witnessed a very frustrated mother snap at her young daughter who admittedly was being a royal pain.

I saw an opportunity for me to drop a pebble, to turn love into water.

I handed the girl behind the counter a twenty-dollar bill and I said, “I’ll take care of their order also,” nodding over in the direction of the mother and daughter.

“No, no – that’s ok, you don’t have to do that,” the mother insisted.

“I know I don’t have to, I want to.”

She smiled and picked up her daughter and said, “What do you say?”

The little girl smiled and said “Thank you.”

I responded: “Your welcome. My pleasure, young lady.”

She smiled again, this time turning her head in a shy grin.

I picked up my bag off the counter and started to walk to my car.

The mother and daughter are walking in front of me.

The mother is holding her young daughter, who is hugging her lovingly around her neck.

So far removed from her outburst a few minutes ago.

Mission accomplished.

I just added a little more water to help float my wall.

A thought crosses my mind.

There is a very good organization called “Make a Wish Foundation” that helps make a dying child’s wish come true. People go out of their way and work together, through many obstacles, to create an unbelievable lasting memory for a deserving person.

My thought is “Why do we wait until someone is dying to do that?”

We have the opportunity to do that everyday for many, many people in our lives.

Imagine how much better the world would be if we all granted each other wishes that came true… every day.

It doesn’t have to be a really big wish – small wishes add up fast.

Find someone today and implement the “Make A Wish” concept in your life.

And see what happens.

I really hope that Jess is ok.
